The Ultimate Wedding Playlist

Choosing the right wedding playlist in 2020 is all about combining heartfelt choices with songs to groove to.

It was a beautiful sunny morning in Southern California. We were in a Limousine on our way to church. It was my wedding day. My mom was with me in the limo. I asked her if she was nervous, her response – not a bit! Mamas the best, she knew I was nervous. She then turned on the radio and played Chapel of Love. She started singing until everybody sang along. I love you, mom!

Chapel of Love – The Dixie Cups

Goin’ to the chapel and we’re gonna get ma-a-arried
Goin’ to the chapel and we’re gonna get ma-a-arried
Gee, I really love you
And we’re gonna get ma-a-arried
Goin’ to the chapel of love

Today I wanted to write about the wedding playlist. Here are my top picks for the 2020. I’ve added part of the song so you can see the lyrics – one of the reason for my pick.

I’m looking for 6 additional wedding songs to add to the list.  If you have any suggestions please comment on them below and include a short story behind the song.  Have fun!

The Ultimate Wedding Playlist 2020

1. Beautiful in White by Shane Filan:

Lyrics:

Not sure if you know this
But when we first met
I got so nervous I couldn’t speak
In that very moment
I found the one and
My life had found its missing piece

2. A Thousand Years by Christina Perri

Lyrics:

Heart beats fast, color and promises
How to be brave
How can I love when I’m afraid to fall
But watching you stand alone
All of my doubt, suddenly goes away somehow

3. Open Arms by Journey

Lyrics:

So now I come to you
With open arms
Nothing to hide
Believe what I say
So here I am
With open arms
Hoping you’ll see
What your love means to me
Open arms

4. All of Me – John Legend

Cause all of me
Loves all of you
Love your curves and all your edges
All your perfect imperfections
Give your all to me
I’ll give my all to you

5. Until Forever – Tori Kelly

It’s just me and you against a world of fools
Ain’t nobody have your back the way I do
Baby I was born for loving you

6. I’ve Been Waiting For You – Guys next door

Yeah girl
I’ve been searching so long
In this world
Trying to find someone
Who could be
What my picture of love was to me
Then you came along

7. At Last –  by Etta James.

At last my love has come along
My lonely days are over and life is like a song, oh yeah
At last the skies above are blue
My heart was wrapped up clover the night I looked at you
I found a dream that I could speak to

8. Thinking Out Loud – by Ed Sheeran.

And darling I will be loving you ’til we’re 70
And baby my heart could still fall as hard at 23
And I’m thinking ’bout how people fall in love in mysterious ways
Maybe just the touch of a hand
Oh me I fall in love with you every single day
And I just wanna tell you I am

9. I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing – by Aerosmith.

Don’t want to close my eyes
I don’t want to fall asleep
‘Cause I’d miss you, babe
And I don’t want to miss a thing

10. The Way You Look Tonight – by Frank Sinatra.

Someday, when I’m awfully low
And the world is cold
I will feel a glow just thinking of you
And the way you look tonight

11. When You Say Nothing At All – Keith Whitley

The smile on your face lets me know that you need me
There’s a truth in your eyes saying you’ll never leave me
A touch of your hand says you’ll catch me if ever I fall
Now you say it best when you say nothing at all

12. You – CarpentersYou are the one who makes me happy
When everything else turns to grey
Yours is the voice that wakes me mornings
And sends me out into the day
You are the crowd that sits quiet
Listening to me
And all the mad sense that I make

13. God Gave Me You -Bryan White

God gave me you for the ups and downs
God gave me you for the days of doubt
For when I think I’ve lost my way
There are no words here left to say, it’s true
God gave me you

Don’t forget the fun part.   Comment your favorite song below for a chance to be added to the wedding playlist.  I am looking for six songs. Don’t forget to include a short story about why the song special to you. Enjoy!

  1. Love this list! I’ve been waiting for you and when you say nothing at all are my cheesy fave! And I don’t want to miss a thing when I want to be cheesier lol! Love that it’s a mix of old and new!

  2. Great list, Choosing a wedding list can be quite a challenge especially since you have so many guests music tastes to consider. I love I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing – by Aerosmith. What hip dance music would you recommend?

    • “Old Town Road” is the first one that came to mind. “Sweet Caroline,” by Neil Diamond is a sweet hip hop dance song too. I’m glad you found the post helpful. Maybe I can add some more hip dance music to the list. 🙂
